If you establish a consistent bedtime and lights-out time, your child’s body will eventually adapt to it. It may take a week or two, but the outcome will be worth it – falling asleep at the same time every night and waking up refreshed and empowered to navigate their day. However, bedtime routines should not solely focus on going to bed. They should begin with a series of preparatory steps, such as getting in comfortable sleepwear, spending some time reading in bed, and engaging in meaningful connection and conversation before a set time for lights-out. Implementing a bedtime routine is for the benefit of the whole family.
